Question
Posted on: March 6 2013Could it be that there are incompatibilities in the following formula, because our result was not supreme. From an NKO-doctor we received following recipe: Fluimucil 3 vials of Eucalyptol
200 mg
Na borate 500 mg
Ephedrine Base 200 mg
Adrenaline 1 0/00 5 dr
Vaseline 20 g
Sweet Almond oil 10g
FAC/nasal ointment with cannula < BR/>

Ephedrine Base 200 mg
Adrenaline 1 0/00 5 dr
Vaseline 20 g
Sweet Almond oil 10g
FAC/nasal ointment with cannula < BR/>
Answer
There are two possible solutions to prepare a nice preparation.
- The first possibility exists in solving the Fluimicil in a minimum solvent, which is provided with the gelyofilized powder. This solution is then emulated in the fatty base consisting of petroleum jelly and sweet almond oil. Of course, a W/O emulsifier will need to be added. This can be e.g. a 0.5 g Arlacel C. The amount of petroleum jelly is then placed at 19.5 g. The addition of the adrenalin solution will also run smoothly.
- But there is a second allight better possibility. Here the Fluimicil is now processed as a dry substance in the fat phase. The adrenaline solution is now replaced by an adrenaline trituration (see below) of which the equivalent of 5 drops is weighed. This method excludes the addition of all moisture, which has a beneficial effect on the stability of adrenalin and thiamphenicolglycinate Acetylcyst ï Naat!! And this certainly in the case of this formulation in which you can not prevent that naborate and ephedrine also dissolve in the aqueous phase. And both react alkaline.
a 1:200 trituration of adrenaline is suitable to replace the 1 pro thousand solution. It is best prepared on the basis of mannitol. A quantity of 10 mg trituration corresponds to 1 drop of the solution.
