Which suppobasis can you recommend for the preparation of chloral hydrate suppositories?

Is the combination PEG400 and Novata B recommended? If so, what is the optimal method of preparation?

Answer

A combination of a water-soluble base like PEG 400 with a fat base like Novata B seems rather peculiar to me. I don't know if those physically go together? Usually a combination of PEG 400 with PEG 4000 is used; The proportion of these two constituents depends on the amount of chloral hydrate. The two PEGS are melted together and chloral hydrate is added to the partially cooled mass.
