When do you best use the powder chlorhexidine acetate and when the solution chlorhexidinedigluconate? Does the form play a role in the active activity?

Sometimes a cream becomes much too liquid with the solution.

Answer

I would use chlorhexidinediacetate in a powder or oily ointment. Digluconate is more likely to be considered when the preparation of a solution is requested. But also in O/W, W/O creams and gels. The more fluid a cream is in my opinion is rather due to incompatibility. As cationogenic compounds, the chlorhexidine salts are incompatible with anionic emulsifiers.
