We were given a prescription for silver nitrate 1/2000 solution. This equates to 0.05% solution. Isn't this too little?

This would be used for a swarming toe/ingrown nail instead of silver nitrate marker. The patient is up to 13 years and get chemo...

Answer

In eye drops for newborns, a 1% solution was used. I would think that this should be used topically at 0.5% unless that skin would be really super sensitive. Another possibility there could be in existence to make use of silver sulfadiazine cream.
