We make following preparation: 10 g codeine syrup 5 g NaHCO3 0.05 g chlorophyllinum pulvis 100% (Na-Cu-chlorophylline complex) 5 g spiritus 0.5 g Aetheroli pini 100 ml Aqua Conservans, Sirupus simplex AD 200 ml

but after about 1 week we obtain an expulsion of the green pigments. < br/> The green color remains but when pouring out a tablespoon we find oil stains in the syrup and dark green dots of pigment. How can we obtain a stable even syrup?

Answer

(in collaboration with Apoth I. Decraene)

There are apparently two problems: the secretion of volatile oil and precipitation of dye. To solve the first one I would double the amount of alcohol to 10 g and add a small amount of solubilizer (5 G Crempophor EL). To dissolve the bicarbonate and the chlorophyll, 50 ml of water is sufficient so that it is perhaps better to halve the amount of aqua conservanges and supplement it with sugar syrup up to 200 ml. The result is a free viscous syrup, which is tasty and does not have an OL Stains with a pH between 7 and 8, which prevents the weakening of the chlorophyll.
