We have a prescription for 50 000 units retinol. 1 capsule per day. I have to make 60 capsules. Can this be? There is only beta carotene 10% aquasolubile to be obtained. So we have to make some conversions.

We did some searches and 1 RAE = 3.3 IU retinol, so 50 000 IE = 15 151,515 RAE. Since 1 RAE = 12 mcg is beta-carotene so 15 151,515 RAE = 180 180 mcg or 180.18 mg of beta carotene. There is only a beta-carotene 10% aquasolubile to be obtained, so we have to multiply this by 10, so 1.8018 g of beta carotene 10% aquasolubile. Is this correct? I think this is a very high dose. In a book by Prof. Merlevede is literally ' in a chronic deficit vit A gives with 5000 to 30 000IU per day for several days or 200 000 IU once with an improved and adapted diet. The symptoms of poisoning by an exaggerated prophylactic treatment with Vit A (more than 20 000 IU per day in children or 50 000 IU per day in adults) occur only after a long latency period. I need to make 60 capsules for this patient???
