Posted on: March 6 2013We are asked to prepare an anti-mosquito milk for a horse to prevent ' lunar disease ' based on DEET. Which lotion/milk could be used for this?
DEET is immiscible with water, only with isopropyl alcohol and on the solubility in Vetfaze we do not find anything directly; A content of 30% is desirable and as a basis an emulsion.
Answer
I would mirror the lotion with Benzyl benzoate from the TMF. Note the use of LIGHT liquid paraffin. This is a "Hotpoint" of wording!
