The thickening agent for the kaopectate late

R/Kaolin 20 GR Pectin 0.5 gr Suspension. Anyone have an idea what viscosities enhancement substance? Taste? How to create?

Answer

The quantities, which you specify are for 100 ml suspension. The classic formula contains microcrystalline cellulose   (Avicel RC 581 so Avicel for suspensions) 2 G; Methyl cellulose mV     400 mg; After citrate 1 g; Glycerin 5 G; After saccharinate 100 mg; Mint Spiritus 1.5 g   and water for preservation AD 100 ml.

The preparation is quite simple: all small amounts of powders are mixed with kaolin and with a limited amount of freshly boiled water a homogeneous paste is made. To this paste we add glycerin and mint spiritus as well as 100 mg nipagine. It can then be further diluted with freshly boiled water and brought to volume. Ideally, the suspension is homogenizing with the rotor-stator mixer.
