Question
Posted on: February 12 2016Is there an alternative to Dalacin C syrup? This is missing from the supplier and the company.
Answer
Solving your question is not easy because the active ingredient (clindamycinepalmitaathydrochloride) used for the preparation of Dalacin C syrup in Belgium is not available.
The active substance in Dalacin C 75 mg/5 ml granules for oral suspension is clindamycin. This is present in the form of clindamycinepalmitaathydrochloride (123.53 mg) equivalent to 75 mg clindamycin per 5 ml.
Dalacin C granules for oral suspension also contains: Sucrose, Ethylparahydroxybenzoate, Poloxameer, artificial cherry Aroma der. Nr. 42/740, Simethicone
Water should be added to it.
so We can only use Clindamycin. HCl (or phosphate) and more than likely we will have to do with A taste problem analogous to chloramphenicolpalmitate, which we should try to neutralize.
I found a composition, which can serve as a starting point and in which I have replaced clindamycinepalmitaathydrochloride with the hydrochloride.
Clindamycin. HCl 1.63 g, stevioside 500 mg, after saccharinate 100 mg, potassium acesulfame 500 mg, glycerin 5 g, sugar syrup (chocolate) up to 100 ml.
From this composition it is clear that a very sweet-smelling solution is sought.
Clindamycine. HCl has been reimbursed by the RIZIV. So for a reimbursable preparation we have to delete stevioside and potassium acesulfame. Stevioside has a sweet power +/-= after saccharinate and for K Acesulfame We can count two thirds. Therefore, the amount after saccharinate is increased to 1 g.
to the incompatibility Interstate clindamycin. HCl and after to avoid saccharinate we add 5 00 mg citric acid.
The possibilities to Aromatize are limited: banana and caramel aroma. These do not seem ideal.
As extra flavor corrigens I would add a certain amount of chocolate topping (Imperial?).
After administration of the syrup, a small portion of well-tasting food is taken.
