Riluzole 5mg/mL suspension

Best Our AS-patient has difficulty swallowing her Rilutek. Therefore the specialist asked if we could not make this in syrup. An internet research has taught us that there is a specialty on the market abroad, NL. Teglutik 5mg/mL suspension. In the article below you will find more info: https://www.dovepress.com/riluzole-5-mgml-oral-suspension-for-optimized-drug-delivery-in-amyotro-peer-reviewed-article-DDDT Of course, you have to start from Rilutek, given that Riluzole is not available in bulk. Would there exist a way to prepare Rilutek in a liquid form magijet? Mvg Team Pharmacy Storme Lauwe

Answer

Following formula was recovered for a 0.5% suspension:

Riluzole 500 mg; sorbitol 40 g; Veegum 1 G; Xanthan gum 100 mg; Tween 80 150 mg; After saccharinate 100 mg; Mint water based on Aqua Conservans up to 100 ml

You obviously have to deal with the composition of the tablet. The active substance in this medicine is riluzole. -The other ingredients are:

core: anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, croscarmellosenatrium. Coating: Hypromellose, Macrogol 6000, titanium dioxide (E171).

Given the presence of some excipients, which can give a certain viscosity, the addition of Veegum and xanthan gum may be superfluous. Practice will have to show this out. If you have insufficient viscosity, the thickening agent can still be added at the end.
