An oncologist prescribed the following oral gel: NaCMC 3g Propylene glycol 10ml prednisolone 200mg xylocaine 400mg nilstat 1 fl Aqua AD 500ml

In terms of odour this gel is quite good (Nilstat), but the taste is unbearable, nl. A very pervasive bitter taste (from prednisolone I presume). How can I mask this???

Answer

(Information provided by Apoth. J. Donders and F. Opsomer)
A good flavour corrigens for bitter taste appear to be bromoformaroma (Cnk 1312693). The manufacturer shall specify as a guideline concentration 3.5 g per litre. According to personal taste, half can already be sufficient.
