An ointment for eyelid corrections with lidocaine to a concentration of 15-20%. Which ointment base would I use best?

Which ointment base would I use best? Do I use lidocaine base or HCl?

Answer

I would use eye ointment base PB V. I do not know to what extent the medicine will have an influence on consistency. In imitation of Emla I would use lidocaine base but it can lead to melting point reduction because it can dissolve (still minimum partial) in the ointment base.     I must point out that the major dangers of using such high concentrations of lidocaine have already been pointed out repeatedly. The minimum you can do is the physician V duties to sign this high dose!
