A neurologist requests a preparation with L-arginine for oral administration.

The dose per day is 3 times 3 grams. As this is a very large amount of processing in capsules, we thought to possibly make a solution. Is there a formula of this? What is the stabilility of So & #039; n solution? Or are there any better alternatives?

Answer

I read that arginine dissolved in water gives an of solution; So we will have to neutralize it. The simplest method is with HCl; The pH of a 10% solution is about 6. If we assume that a soup spoon contains 1 dose then we need to prepare a 20% solution. The used 20g arginine should be neutralised with HCl being 1 mol HCl for 1 mol of arginine. The taste of such a solution is not known to me. I suspect that sugar or sorbitol can be added or not with a taste corrigens.
Another possibility is the neutralization with glutamic acid with formation of arginineglutamate. Aspartic acid could also be used but I don't know if it is available as raw material.
