How to prepare simethicone droplets for a child.

Today we got a question for simethicone droplets, which a woman in Kosovo had bought (25 drops contain 40 mg simethicone) We can only obtain a simethicone emulsion here. The woman wants to give this to her children, but now we wondered if the dose could not be dangerous for long-term children? Do you know what the side effects of this can be?

Answer

You should dilute the purchased emulsion to 40 mg Simethicone per 25 drops. This is a fairly harmless preparation but, as is the case with paraffin emulsion, there might be some silicone in the intestine and can be found back in the bloodstream. Therefore use during the duration of treatment.
