How can you best L thyroxine 200 tablets in a liquid oral form?

Levothyroxine is poorly soluble in water (can complicate the uptake)   and not stable in Alcalisch center. In 1997, Alexander K S published the composition of an ex tempore prepared syrup based on commercial tablets.

The composition is the following:

Levothyroxine tablets 0.2 mg 200; ethanol 50 ml; sorbitol 70% solution 500 ml; glycerin 250 ml; concentrated parabens solution NF VI 10 ml;   after metabisulfite 1 g; Na2EDTA 1 G; NaH2PO4   4.8 g Na2HPO4 17 G; Banana Aroma 10 ml and water up to 1000 ml  

The shelf life of this syrup is kept in the fridge for one and a half months.  

Taking into account the limited shelf life, the delivered quantity must be adjusted to the consumption!  

Preparation Method

1. Boil 300 ml purified water and allow to cool  

2. In a mortar, crush the tablets into a fine powder, add glycerin and mix into a paste; then add alcohol to

4. Dissolve nametabisulfite, Na2EDTA, NaH2PO4 and Na2HPO4 in a small amount of freshly boiled and cooled water. After fully dissolving, add 2

6. Pour the contents of the mortar into a measuring cylinder, rinse the mortar with freshly boiled and cooled water, pour into the measuring cylinder and apply with water to volume
