Fucicort counterfeiting by adding to Affusine/fucidine betamethasone valerate?

The cream is very running..

Answer

You know without doubt the series of spans, which are all W/O emulsifiers. An example is sorbitanmonolaurate. Sorbitan is the hydrophilic part and laurate the lipophilic. We can make the same breakdown at betamethasonvalerate. Betamethasone obviously is not as pronounced hydrophilic as sorbitan as evidenced by its water solubility. So that in emulgatorial strength Betamethasone valerate is certainly not an equally potent W/O emulsifier as sorbitanmonolaurate but still sufficiently strong to weaken the O/W emulsifier   in the O/W fucidinecrème. I would prefer to add a small amount of cetomacrogol (waxy) but then the cream should be melted and it is better to avoid this. So the suggested addition of several drops of Tween 80 is a good solution.
