Ear drops with Triamcinolone 10 mg/ml prescribed by an ENT doctor triamcinolone 10mg/ml DT/5 ml in dropper bottle 3x2 drops P.D. in the ear

The concentration of triamcinolone seems to me to be very high (10x as high as the triamcinolone ear drops of the NF6). For ear drops is triamcinolone acetonide used but is that still soluble to that concentration? Should a suspension be made or would it be the intention that a part remains unresolved? What solvent do you propose?

Answer

We must therefore take into account the expertise of the prescribing physician in the matter. Yet the concentration seems higher than usual. The question whether the prescribed concentration is correct must be answered by him. As a liquid I would prefer PEG 400 because of its relatively high viscosity, especially when such a high concentration is desired and not all triamcinolone acetonide goes into solution. An alternative is alcohol 70%.
