Are there special requirements for ordering medicines abroad?

Answer

A distinction must be made between raw materials and specialities:
  1. raw materials cannot be imported from abroad since the raw materials must bear an authorisation number or are accompanied by a Anlysecertificate issued by an accredited laboratory

  2. Specialties may be imported from a country where they are registered on condition that their delivery has not been suspended or prohibited in Belgi ë. Medicines, which are registered in Belgium ë but are not or are no longer commercialised should also not be imported. The list of medicines marketed in Belgi ë can be found at http://www.bcfi.be . If it is not commercialised, the ë pharmacist must verify that the medicinal product in Belgium has not been registered ë and is not suspended or prohibited (e-mail: info. DGG @health. fgov.be )

The doctor should in all cases draw up a prescription and provide it to the pharmacist together with the physician's statement. The doctor's statement can be found at: http://www.afigp.fgov.be/NL%20home/archief/omzendbrieven/ozb%20415%20annexe.PDF
The pharmacist should remember that it is possible that the medicinal product was never accepted in Belgi ë due to insufficient evidence of target-based or safety problems. The pharmacist may also refuse to enter the medicinal product if he considers that the quality cannot be guaranteed.
