Posted on: July 6 2016Addition of aluminium hydroxide to capsules containing methylprednisolone
R/Methylprednisolone 16mg; Al (OH) 3 100mg
Only colloidal alumina (Al2O3) is available as a vracproduct. Is a synonym according to the various software systems. Theoretically: Al2O3 + 2H2O = 2Al (OH) 3, but does this also go into vivo?
So: replaced by Al2O3 or by another antacid?
Additional question: Does a relatively low dose of antacids make sense here?
Answer
There remains not much choice than to use the variety, which is in stock. Considering using the colloidal product, this will have some covering effect from the stomach wall and reduce the irritation.
