Is het mogelijk rifampicine suspensie te maken met een langere houdbaarheid, aangezien onze patiënt dit gedurende meerdere maanden moet nemen.
In de ziekenhuisapotheek van het UZ Gent maakt men rifampicine in Syrspend maakt, houdbaarheid 60 (!) dagen. Maar Syrspend is zeer duur .
We maken de suspensie nu cfr TMF, die een houbaarheid geeft van 1 week. We hebben enkele wijzigingen aan de TMF formule aangebracht : guargom ipv xanthaangom, en een iets grotere hoeveelheid sirupus simplex en natrium sacharinaat. Houdbaarheid die we hierop gezet hebben is 30 dagen in de koelkast (maar de voorgeschreven hoeveelheid is telkens na 20 dagen al opgebruikt). Het kindje heeft geen probleem met de smaak

Een eerste mogelijkheid is de 1% rifampicin suspensie van de USP

Stability of rifampin in two suspensions at room temperature door M. C. Nahata, R. S. Morosco and T. F. Hipple
Two suspensions of rifampin were prepared. Suspension A was prepared by mixing i.v. rifampin solution (Rifadin, lot No. 014 A, Marion Merrell Dow) in simple syrup (lot No. 13291, Humco). Suspension B was prepared by triturating the capsule contents (Rifadin, lot No. 9760 AD, Marion Merrell Dow) in syrup into a paste in a mortar and pestle, adding syrup, retriturating the slurry, and then adding remaining syrup while mixing. The expected concentration of rifampin in each suspension was 10 mg/mI.
The physical appearance of the two suspensions differed to some degree. Suspension A was a dark redorange form without visible particles. Suspension B was lighter in colour than A, and contained visible particles.
De suspensies waren stabiel gedurende 8 weken bij kamertemperatuur

De houdbaarheid was 4 weken zowel bij kamertemperatuur als in de koelkast.
Gezien de controle van de pH gaat de voorkeur naar de suspensie bereid volgens de USP met een houdbaarheid van 4 weken.
