When preparing the formula below "breaks" the Carbopol gel. I like to know the cause and an alternative method of preparation. Chloramphenicol 1 G resorcinol 1 G salicylic acid 1 g

Aqua Hamamelis 5 g
precipitated sulfur 5 g
carbopolgel NF V AD 100 g < BR/>

Answer

The acidifying of salicylic acid and Sulpho resorcinol is the cause of the curling of the gel. The solution is quite classical and consists in the use of a non-ionogenic gel such as the Hydroxyethyl celluose gel. Cosmetologically clearly less but not subject to acids and salts.
