Answer
We may be able to assume 40 mg using 10 ml suspension. So calculate how many tablets are required for the preparation of 100 ml suspension.
First the composition of Pantomed tablets. These tablets have a gastric juice resistant casing, which dissolves in contact with 8.4% NaHCO3 solution.
We must start by making the tablets fine and use an electric coffee grinder. After grinding, the powder is sieved. What remains on the sieve is ground a second time and then sieved again to remove remaining film particles. The powder is now mixed in a beaker with 40 ml 8.4% NaHCO3 solution (use flapule) and this mixture let's stay overnight. The coated film will dissolve like also the water-soluble polymers. Some of the components of the tablet will not go into solution. The Pantomed tablet also contains Na2CO3. Pantrozole is a weak acid and will dissolve under the influence of the alkaline reactive solution. Then we add 40 ml NaHCO3 solution. Treating the whole now with the Bamix Homogenizer will certainly improve the quality of the suspension.
The finishing of the suspension can now be performed as described for the omeprazole suspension : http://www.qualenica.be/node/4149
Should xanthan gum give rise to clot formation, treat the suspension with the Homogenizer.
